Currently based in Baltimore, Kurt Fedde is a freelance percussionist, educator, and composer. As a Co-Artist Director of Sound ExChange Project—a collaborative new music group exploring unconventional programs, projects and education—Kurt has directed shows in venues around NY and collaborated with artists of diverse mediums.
Starting as minimalist jam sessions, Kurt experimented with composing. Now his works are being performed nationwide and overseas. Ranging from solo to chamber, acoustic to electronic - his music often connects sounds from the everyday with classical instrumentation to create soundscapes emanating nostalgia and layered textures.
Aside from performing, Kurt enjoys teaching all ages. From pre-k to high school, he teaches general music, piano and percussion. Recent highlights include teaching at Davenport Preschool and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids program.
Hailing from the Eastman School of Music, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Percussion, Music Education, and a certificate in the Arts Leadership Program. Throughout his percussion instruction, Kurt has studied with Michael Burritt, Bill Cahn, Tony Ames, Chip Ross, Jake Nissly, Rob Marino, and Dave Smith.
